NTHS chapters recruit student tutors in service of ending educational inequity. Members build leadership skills, earn a nationally recognized certification, and engage in meaningful volunteer service.

Apply to become a Founding President at your school, or reach out to your existing chapter president to join as a member.

Complete orientation and tutor training through UPchieve so you are ready to support peers from day one.

Attend Chapter Meetings

Meet regularly with your chapter to improve your tutoring skills, share strategies, and build a strong community.

Tutor

Provide free, 1-on-1 academic support to students through UPchieve's online platform and track your volunteer hours.

Get Recognized

Earn verified service hours, a national tutor certification, and an official NTHS credential for your college applications.

What You'll Do

Lead or Serve

Every chapter needs Founding Presidents to organize and members to tutor. Both roles are essential, and both earn recognition.

As a President

  • Recruit a founding team and new members each year.
  • Lead onboarding and training so every tutor is ready.
  • Host regular chapter meetings to build skills and community.
  • Track tutoring hours and celebrate milestones.
  • Attend national meetings with UPchieve staff.

As a Member

  • Complete onboarding and tutor training.

  • Support your chapter's goals and fellow members.
